Hi there!
I’m Mariève, and I’ve been populating the web with my words for over 10 years. After a long stint at divine.ca, Canada’s online women’s magazine, I left my position as Editor in Chief to branch out on my own as an independent journalist, copywriter and translator. Since then, I’ve been working on slew of projects within the lifestyle and online marketing fields, and as a beauty journalist for Quebec’s leading print magazines.
I love languages, and I’m probably one of the most bilingual people you’ll come across—or so I’ve been told. I’ve always written in both English and French, and have continued contributing to online and print publications in both languages since starting this new chapter. I regularly pen beauty- and lifestyle-related articles in magazines like ELLE Québec, Clin d’oeil, Coup de pouce, Bel Âge and magazine VÉRO. You’ll also find my name on websites like divine.ca, Urban Expressions (which was integrated into The Montreal Gazette), Huffington Post Québec, Branchez-vous, and ReadersDigest.ca. I also have my own (mostly) beauty blog where I share and illustrate my latest finds, including Asian beauty products: byMinoue. If you’re not a pet person, beware: most of the posts are spruced up with cat illustrations.
My name isn’t always on everything I write, though: MINOUE media offers copywriting services in English or French, and I often get requests to work on both languages for the same project. Articles, newsletters, sponsored content, website copy, product descriptions, and social media posts are just a few examples of what I usually work on.
MINOUE media also does a good amount of translation/adaptation for clients like PR agencies, online marketing firms, fashion labels, and production companies. I relish the variety of projects I’ve had the chance to collaborate on: everything from social media posts and new product taglines, to blog posts, press releases, and pitches for TV shows.
Why MINOUE?
While I was studying at McGill University, I was assigned an email address that squished together the first letter of my first name (“m”) and my last name (“Inoue”). This made the first part of my email address “minoue”—without the “e”, “minou” is a familiar term for “kitty” in French. A few years later, after I adopted Chababa and my love of cats increased ten fold, the topic of my old email address came up at work, and the name just stuck. I have been Minoue ever since, and it seemed natural to use the nickname for my company.
Who is CHABABA?
Chababa is my beloved cat, who has been by my side since 2006 and who contributes her services to MINOUE media as official mascot, muse, and office supervisor. She makes frequent appearances on my personal Instagram account (#Chababa), and has her own Facebook page.
